Update: Alan T. did get the Black Redstart after I'd left... see comments below.
A walk via the Black Redstart haunt to Soil Hill this morning where it was good to meet Bingley birder Alan T. on the lookout for the Black Redstart.
I did not locate it, although it could well have been sheltering against the weather.
Alan accompanied me around Soil Hill where a near gale greeted us on the NW side.
Really quiet here today:
Birds:-
Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Kestrel, Linnet.
Meadow Pipit, Coal Tit,
10 Magpies this far up is a worry.
Carrion Crow, 6 Mistle Thrush.
Skylark .
A short saunter up the local fields after lunch brought with it:-
c30 Meadow Pipit, Goldfinch, Linnet.
Common Gull, Black Headed Gull.
A Stonechat was good to see.
Quiet times.
Hard work finding any birds today John though we did Stodfold and Carr's beck passing Ogden. Reed Bunt behind res'r cottage. GCG still there and then a Dipper in the stream by the golf maintenance depot and not much else. Pinkies not my way this morning - maybe tomorrow !
ReplyDeleteI had a scan for BS's Pinkies this morning (interupted the washing up!)..but I guess they were further south than me.
ReplyDeleteNothing moving on my evening skywatch.
