Oats Royd:
Cool NE breeze, sunny.
A short outing to Oats Royd, this morning, looking for some shelter from a strong NE breeze.
A slow start but smaller birds started to flit about warily later on.
Top of the shop is probably a M. Blackcap.
Just managed 2 photos of it, before it disappeared.
The bird has the look of a Lesser Whitethroat, but it is probably on the big size for Lesser W.
Other Birds:
Common Whitethroat (Heard not seen).
Jay, Kestrel, Chiffchaff, Greenfinch, Goldfinch.
Meadow Pipit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackbird, Chaffinch.
Swallow.
Shelf Hall Park to Norwood Green circular walk:
We enjoyed a late afternoon walk at shelf where it was quite cool in the strong breeze but warm lower down along the woodland paths.
Birds:-
A Buzzard overhead nr. Duke of York pub.
3 more Buzzards seen later on.
Jay, Kestrel, Swallow.
1 House Martin, Mistle Thrush.
Long Tailed Tit.
c20 Jackdaw.
Loads of Woodpigeon.
Kestrel nr. the trailer park on the way home.
Male Blackcap John. Nice try and welcome back ! Oats Royd - bags of potential there and that walk from Shelf has lots of potential too. Last time we went there we got told off by a farmer for walking across an empty field after we missed the stile. We apologised of course but he wasn't happy !!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave - a bit easier to see on the laptop, blown up , than on my camera display. It is a bit special on O.Royd hillside, great potential (and a lot warmer than Soil Hill today I guess).
ReplyDeleteEasy parking and a good track - just needs a cafe!
Lots of paths at Shelf, easy to go adrift.
But an irate farmer? Hard to believe.
I have a tale to tell there , but its not printable!!
