We enjoyed a very sunny walk this morning around St. Ives nr. Bingley.
More walking than birding really.
Nuthatch and Great Spotted Woodpecker heard on the way around.
We did a slower circuit of the Coppice Pond where the main interest was a large count of 17 Goosander.
The birds took some counting as well, continually diving and popping up.
Other birds here included, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Mute Swan.
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull and Black Headed Gulls.
No Tufted Ducks seen (by me anyway).
Soil Hill:
I dropped some birdseed in the Soil Hill track area hoping...
Heavy, very wet, drizzle blown along by a stiff breeze arrived soon after I did, making for a not so pleasant outing.
It was good to chat to 'Percy Road' Ken who was on his exercise walk at the top of Ned Hill Lane.
Unusually without his dog, who he says is too old now for the longer walk he was doing.
Soaked through when I got in today.
Birds:-
6 Mallard, Moorhen on the NK pond.
Usual Gulls, very distant, in the lower north end fields with some Lapwings.
Too distant to check out properly.
Black Headed and Common Gulls (90% Common) in the Taylor Lane fields were a lot easier to check through.
Not a lot else!
