After yesterdays brain blank "Great Tit" moment, when I actually felt like one!
I'll try not to get too excited about the many mega moments I've had in my outings today.
We had to take Sues car to Lepton to complete some warranty work on it.
Well 'we' didn't , the mechanic, sorry technician had to.
Lepton:
I had a short walk around while the work was being done.
Cold but very sunny here and the short outing brought with it a few Blackbird, Fieldfare and Redwing.
Lots of Holly berries.
Another 'Thrush' type left a tree top before I could eyeball it properly, I did manage to get a poor photo of it in flight - see what you think.
Soil Hill:
A big black cloud was reluctant to leave the vicinity as I had a walk up to a cold and windy Soil Hill.
C40 Small Gulls mostly Common Gulls were in the Taylor Lane fields.
4 Herring Gulls were seen as I did a bit of sky watching from the tops.
The NK pond was bereft of any birds and apart from a few Corvids and a single Herring Gull way, way off, the shay fields were 'empty' as well.
A strong SW wind, along Ned Hill track, didn't help matters with just a single Wren here.
Not much else but then it is Autumn (just) and it is Soil Hill.... but things might alter when the big freeze arrives this winter.
Venus in the SE early morning John. Jupiter and Saturn are really close together in the early evening in the SW.
ReplyDeleteMasses of Starlings in fields at top of Pavement Lane late afternoons on the overhead wires John. I keep meaning to take a photo and have a guestimate count - there's a lot - maybe 800+ ?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave.
ReplyDeleteI see tbe Starlings often. Sometimes in good numbers.
like you I need to photo and count them.
800 sounds somewhere near my guesstimate.
John
I went up this afternoon for the Starlings but I was a bit late for them - none !
ReplyDeleteThey have been blown away Dave!
