Cromwell Bottom Woods, River and Canal

I had a try for the Firecrest this morning and early afternoon.

3 Hours or so, on the search, Goldcrest was as near as I got alas.

Good to bump into Alan, a Settle birder now resident in Brighouse, who had seen and photographed the Firecrest on Saturday.

Later I bumped into DJS and we both searched in vain for the Firecrest.

Still, it was a really mild day and 10 degrees with a ray of sunshine - enjoyable.

Viewing the ski lake, from the canal, is a tad awkward with fence / trees in the way and most birds on or near the far banking....well that's my excuse anyway!

Birds:-

Lots of bird calls and some singing throughout.

1 Goldcrest, 2 Nuthatch, 1 Treecreeper.

Cormorant, Green Woodpecker.

3 Buzzards, 7 / 8 Siskin.

4 Bullfinch (at least).

2 Goosander, 3 Little Grebe (2 River, 1 Ski-Lake).

4 Tufted Duck, Pr. Goldeneye - difficult to see on the far side of the Ski Lake.

2 Moorhen, Jay, 1 Redwing.

And the more common species.

It got quite busy, pedestrian wise, later, so I did not check out the busy feeding area.

A poor video of  the Goldeneye on the Ski Lake.
Taken on nearly full zoom through the railings
Not my best effort.
