Monday Evening:
Dark clouds and the odd spot of rain this evening on a short birding outing up the local fields.
2 Partridge sp. flushed from distance with loud calls.
They did not appear as 'Red' on the tail but I cannot say if they were Grey Partridge.
A definite Red Legged Partridge was feeding on the high banking further along.
2 Curlew were distant in the lower fields, one had a Whimbrel look to it? But the photo is poor.
A Lesser Black-backed Gull flew overhead,
Ogden Water:
Dull and overcast but it stayed mostly dry as I did a couple of laps around the water.
Quite on the water here, and with plenty of shoreline I was a bit disappointed not to get an Aka Bilk .
(Stranger on the Shore).
A flypast calling Oystercatcher was as good as it got, Wader wise.
Birds:
Oystercatcher, 14 Singing Willow Warbler.
Mallard, one with a few chicks.
5 Lesser Black-backed Gull. Long Tailed Tits.
Curlew called from the moor.
2 Canada Geese, 2 Nuthatch.
A would be Dipper seen from the promenade morphed into a golf ball when I got the bins on it!
A Sparrowhawk flew low over my head (would have to be low!) as I went along the west side path.
3 Chiffchaff with a good few Robin and Wrens.
3 Blackcap (1 heard 2 seen - very high in the north end conifers).
Not much else.
(2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls over King Cross this morning).
