Saltaire Walk and Local Birding Outing

A rare trip out today, for a short walk along the river Aire and canal nr. Saltaire.

Not really a birding trip but a few nice birds were encountered on a beautiful sunny day.

I was expecting Wagtails, Swallows and Martins by the water treatment works, but nothing much here at all!

An afternoon trip to Soil Hill was very tough going.

The odd Lapwing and a calling Curlew was about it, from Soil Hill lower fields, unless I'm mistaken.

Birds:

Saltaire:

3 Treecreeper, 2 Heron, Jay.

9 or so Black Headed Gull.

2 large sub-adult Gulls.

4 Nuthatch, many Duckling.

Local:

6 or so Linnet, Little Owl.

One Swallow over Bradshaw Lane.

A very distant (rubbish) photo of a bird seen from Ned Hill Lane - Linnet?

Garden:

A very short garden sky watch this aft brought with it:-

2 Buzzards - thermalling very, very high over Halifax.

Another Buzzard over Oats Royd later.

Another very distant photo of a bird in the Oats Royd conifers could just be a Raptor, a Sparrowhawk ? (or a Woodpigeon!).

Clutching at straws a bit - aren't I?
