Another cold, cloudy day with drips of wet now and again on my usual route along the local fields, farm track, Ned Hill Track, Soil Hill and Taylor Lane.

It was good to bump into  and chat with NK on the top.

Birds:-

Fields / Farm Track:

1 Little Owl, c30 Jackdaw, 6 Carrion Crow a few Meadow Pipits.

Soil Hill:

Usual species.

Linnet, a few Meadow Pipit and singing Skylark.

4 Lapwing, 2 Curlew as far as I could make out.

6 Swallow over the lower NK pond.

2 very elusive Whitethroat.

2 Willow Warbler.

A good nosey down the north side tree line failed to find much.

Carrion Crow nesting on the comms. mast by the looks of it.

Pied Wagtail on Percy Rd. Midden.

2nd Little Owl on Taylor Lane.

Not a lot else.

Nice to see a Swallow on the telephone lines outside our house this aft.

Football down the park this aft where before we even got to the park , Abi kicked the ball over an inaccessible boggy field - lucky the farmer was about - thanks Matthew.

A tale:

I was speaking to Carol near her house by the Little Owl field and she related a tale, years ago,  about when her 2 young children came into the lounge very early one Saturday morning to find a field mouse sitting on the sofa.

They ran upstairs screaming 'There's a mouse in the house".

So they spent ages trying to catch it and eventually Mick caught it and put it in a cardboard box.

"Don't kill it" the youngsters screamed, so Mick went out into the centre of the garden and placed it gently on the lawn - turned and headed back towards the house.

The youngsters staring pointing at him and when he looked back our Little Owl had, had the field mouse for breakfast!

p.s.

What kind of beans to Cannibals eat? (Human Beans).
