A late evening outing along the local fields yesterday and a Pr. Red Legged Partridge were good to see.
They normally flush before I have a chance to see them properly.
Having picked them out in the fields they kindly perched on a wall for me!
Maybe they are getting used to me traipsing about?
Ponden and Leeshaw:
Ponden:
A whistle stop visit to a couple of nearby reservoirs this afternoon - another cold one!
The 'usual' species for hereabouts but it was great to see a Red Kite over Ponden (Looking at the bird with numb hands (and a numb head) I mistook it for a Buzzard at the time).
Also here a Common Sandpiper and a possible Great Black-backed Gull , very high overhead, 2 Heron.
Leeshaw:
No sign of last times Dunlin but plenty of shoreline out of view.
2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Heron
Redshank and Oystercatcher calling and the usual Geese with young now.
A Kestrel was seen near Stanbury.
Garden:
Once I realised I'd seen a Red Kite I had a sit about in the garden for a while - just in case.
A Sparrowhawk, 5 Gulls, 2 Swallow and a Collard Dove came and went.
Another potential Great Black-backed Gull, very high over Oats Royd.
Also over Oats Royd a potential Red Kite but who knows!!
