Oats Royd with Harry C. (and Elsewhere)

My first Swift of spring passed over the house this morning - a very welcome tick!!

I had a walk around Oats Royd this morning where I met Harry C. on my arrival there.

We enjoyed lots of chat and loads of birdsong, all competing against one another.

The birds themselves, except for Willow Warbler, were amazingly reluctant to show - including Whitethroat which normally sing, at some point, in full view and occasionally sing while in flight while changing positions.

No sign of Harry's Cuckoos - possibly have moved on?

We managed to hear the Garden Warbler, again, but try as we may we could we did not get it to show.

I fine it difficult to distinguish between the song of Blackcap and Garden Warbler - however if the little blighters would pop up, it would solve my dilemma.

I nearly missed the rain on my walk home - but not quite!

An enjoyable outing.

Elsewhere Today:

A walk this morning at Saltaire (no bins, no camera) saw c40 Swift by the water treatment works nr. Hirst Wood.

A walk this evening up the local fields and  a quick about turn as the sky turned Jet Black and lightening was seen at distance.

The storm arrived at our house after I'd got home.

Sparrowhawk, Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Woodpigeon, Meadow Pipit, Swallow.

A pigeon sized bird in distant flight??
