Garden.
A long stint in the garden with periodical sky watches.
Really great to see Swifts high above Oats Royd with about 15 birds seen.
I don't remember seeing so many Swifts from home before, however with this lockdown situation my garden habits have changed, with a lot more sitting about watching than in previous years?
Its a pity that the Oats Royd area, as seen from my Bradshaw garden, is just on the very limit of my camera's 83X zoom, making , most photos very poor, but could be useful for 'record shots' when I finally nail a megga.
I've decided it doesn't matter how big ones zoom is - you always need a bigger one (that sentence could well be misconstrued).
Birds seen from the garden were:
Buzzard on several occasions.
2 Raptors (probably Sparrowhawks) 'dueling' in the sky.
Plenty of Lesser Black-backed Gulls moving about.
Denholme Velvets Area:
I did eventually get out and about yesterday(Sunday) with a ride out to Denholme Velvets area car park and a walk to the abattoir and back.
It was approaching 8pm when I left and the birds were finally waking up after the weather had cooled a bit, with some pleasant bird calls / song.
Birds:
Curlew, c10 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Woodpigeon.
2 Stock Dove, Whitethroat, c10 Lapwing (1 chick seen).
Meadow Pipit, Red Legged Partridge. Rook.
Skylark, Pheasant (2 young flushed from near the path), Magpie, Carrion Crow, 3 Canada Geese.
Snipe, Oystercatcher, Reed Bunting, Swallow.
A Kestrel was seen by the shelf trailer Park (nr Queensbury)as we went to Mirfield this am.
