Ogden to Bradshaw

Sue dropped me at Rocks Lane, Ogden on a very hot afternoon, so I could enjoy a walk home.

I walked along the stream and along by the golf club maintenance buildings to check out the rough ground to the west of the golf course.

Some fantastic potential here, but in the heat today, birds were at a premium.

I seem to be struggling with Meadow Pipit and Skylark ID's all of a sudden - probably the heat (or my old age) - anyway it's nice to get some instant bird ID's feedback from the grapevine gang!

Even if it dents the pride a bit.

Anyway I've posted a few Meadow Pipit photos.

Extremely quiet on the walk with most birds heard rather than seen.

I had a quick look for DJS's Cuckoo at Ogden, up the concrete track, but did not venture very far in the heat,

I did not do the circuit of the water today.

The slog up Ned Hill Lane was a hot one today and I did not go over Soil Hill.

My birding over the past few days has been mostly in the garden or just up the local fields with a Green Woodpecker overhead yesterday evening, as I was having a slurp of my Thwaites Dark Mild (otherwise I'd have got its mug shot).

It was great to get out walking - there is only so much garden I can take.

Red Legged Partridge were seen a couple of times and a few Meadow Pipit.

I had a good scan for PD's Osprey yesterday evening, as well, but it failed to appear in my bins.

Birds:-

Reed Bunting, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Meadow Pipit.

Jay, One Lesser Black-backed Gull on Ogden water!

Ned Hill area had 3 or so Swift overhead, a Skylark singing and 2 Linnets on Ned Hill Lane.
