Soil Hill / Ogden / Shibden Park - Phew!

I took my car for MOT and service to BS's old place and afterwards walked up to and around Soil Hill.

Approaching the hill from Percy Rd corner c60 Starlings and c10 Swallows were seen.

While I was chatting to Adrian the farmer AC came over the hill and we enjoyed some time birding  'The Hill'.

A Wheatear and a Kestrel were seen early on.

Looking at the north slope we did find a Reed Bunting and 5 Whitethroat but we did not locate DJB's Groppers alas.

After AC left I had a walk along Ned Hill Track then back up the main track and another circuit of the top.

2 further Wheatear were seen from the main track.

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was nr. Grey Horse Farm.

24 species in all here, which for me aint too bad, considering that some of  the 'common' species were absent.

Ogden:

Sue dropped me at Rocks Lane so I could have a try for NK's flighty Redstart seen this morning.

A long stint but just C10 Linnets and a few Meadow Pipits were all I could manage.

2 Jays were seen as I left.

2 Kestrel and 'probably' a Sparrowhawk  ( or an Osprey !!) were 'sparring' over Soil Hill - seen from Ogden Lane.

Shibden Park:

After tea Abi wanted to feed the ducks in Shibden Park so we had a ,longish walk here as well.

13 Mistle Thrush were hereabouts and the usual Ducks, Gulls and Coot were on the water.

Squirrel..unusual near Soil Hill quarry.

Large Raptor over Soil Hill.
Mobbed by 2 Kestrel at one point.
Seen from Ogden Lane.
Really poor photo at this distance.
