Brighouse to Elland and Raptors over Oats Royd

A pleasant walk along the canal and river Calder from Brighouse to Elland this afternoon.

It was very breezy in Bradshaw this morning but lighter winds lower down in Brighouse.

3 birders seen along the way all reported 'quiet times'.

Not a lot about, top of the shop was 2 Kingfisher.

One flew towards Brighouse along the river and a second one soon after was on a tree branch on the opposite river bank to me.

Birds:-

Along the walk:

2 Kingfisher, Pied Wagtail, Starling, Mallard, Black Headed Gull.

Woodpigeon, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Moorhen.

Chaffinch, 3 Mute Swan, Heron and a few others.

A report of a black mink seen along the canal.

Garden Sky Watch Late Evening:

2 separate Sparrowhawk sightings, probably the same bird.

1 Buzzard, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Black Headed Gull.

Just before sunset , 19:00ish,  the Crows over a very distant Oats Royd were still harassing a Raptor , a Sparrowhawk by the looks of it.

This evenings Raptors seen from the garden:-
