A day of two halves - Hirst Wood - Pinkies and Local

 Hirst Wood- Saltaire.

A warm and pleasant walk in some sunshine this morning through Hirst Wood, along the river Aire and the canal before a coffee and a bun in the cricket grounds café.

Birds:-

Nuthatch, Goosander, 2 Kingfisher.

3 Jay, Heron, Cormorant.

Local:

A quick look out of the front door, after lunch,  to check on the weather paid dividends, with 149 Pink Footed Geese flying over ENE.

The usual walk today was spoilt somewhat with heavy, persistent drizzle.

A wet outing.

Birds:-

Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, 3 Black Headed Gull.

c12 Common Gull.

Moorhen, Mallard, 2 Wren.

A Snipe flushed from the main Soil Hill track beyond the mast.

Kestrel,

5 Roe Deer.

As I was coming down the bonnet a very brown Kestrel sized Raptor ( Prob. Young Sparrowhawk?)  nearly took my nose off.

149 Pink Footed Geese.
