Swalesmoor - Ringby Lane / Top & Howcans Bridleway

A stonking afternoon weather wise with Howcans Bridleway bathed in sunshine, nearly no wind making it very warm and pleasant to walk.

Ringby Top had a cooler feel to it but wasn't too smelly!

Even though the resident helicopter came in to land just as  I set off - the  birding God's were with me with the helicopter noise not causing too many birds to scarper.

Birds:-

First up 2 Raven cronked past high.

Then 3 separate Stonechat  all along the wire fence beyond the main entrance to the recycling yard.

A Buzzard was being mobbed by a crow,  way over near Queensbury Black Dyke Mill chimney.

Howcans  bridleway had a Green Woodpecker that refused to pose before flying west down towards Holmefield.

A Sparrowhawk was circling high overhead > left East.

Also seen:-

A dozen Meadow Pipit in a few groups.

A small flock of birds, way off, on the factory roof were 14 Linnet.

Just a few Gulls about - Black Headed, Common & Lesser Black-backed for definite plus a large Adult Gull and a Large Sub-Adult Gull on the distant factory roof that might be Greater Black-backed.

3 Pied Wagtail.

Earlier on our morning walk along the Thornton to Queensbury cycle track, 2 Buzzards were heading to Soil Hill area.

A really enjoyable outing today.

Where's Wally - There is a Green Woodpecker in here

There it is!
