A walk today but not a birding walk, no bins or camera(except on my mobile).
Initially we were going to do a lap of Withens Clough reservoir but after completing 80% of the reservoir, Sue decided we should walk up the moors to Studley Pike and back.
There are some really smart brown cattle, roaming free, on the rough fields up here.
It was excellent walking weather today, with a refreshing breeze as we got higher up.
We topped off the outing by putting on more calories than we had burned off, probably, by calling for a takeaway butty at Craggys farm shop on our way hone via. Sowerby Bridge.
Walk:
Birds:-
3 Skylark frolicking about with a bit of a call.
Raven.
Great Spotted Woodpecker.
2 Jay.
Garden:
I sat in the garden this aft. Doing the Xword and a bit of sky gazing was very pleasant.
Birds:
3 Raven up together over Roper Lane.
An individual Raven over Oats Royd.
Two Buzzard sightings over Oats Royd.
(On one of the sightings the Buzzard was nearly motionless inching along in the breeze).
It's a pity that the Oats Royd skyline is so far off!
Mistle Thrush left the large tree in ones calling, then a Crow was darting about - the reason became clear when a Sparrowhawk appeared, being mobbed by the Crow.
2 Sparrowhawk sightings this aft.
An interesting afternoon - well - I though so anyway.
Great views of Withens Clough there John.
