Mega Garden Tick, Shibden Park and Local Stroll

A beautiful day today, hardly a cloud in the sky.

My usual Saturday morning pastime of playing UNO with Abi was interrupted for a bit while I went into the garden to move some leaves about.

This proved a great move, as I was talking to Tracey next door a bird with an unusual call was heard. We both scanned the sky and eventually I spotted the 'White Goose" mega high leaving south. I fired off 3 photos and managed to ID it from them - A Whooper Swan- magic.

We did our usual Shibden Park duck food scatter, walkabout, football and cafĂ© visit late morning.

Just the usual birds here as far as I could tell.

After lunch I enjoyed an hour or so birding with a walk through Matthew's Farm, up Ned Hill, along the track for a short distance and along Soil Hill Main track for a short distance.

A quad bike was on the top of the hill so I guessed that the rare 'Snipe' species, that I was certain to see, had been flushed by the noise, so I did not linger.
