A very sunny morning out and about.
We went to Abi's school Christmas concert this morning, an early start today to get through the rush hour traffic to Heckmondwike.
Whilst 'in the area' we had a slight detour to look at Pugney's Nature Reserve /Park.
Struggling to get any local 'rarer' Ducks I knew there would be rich picking here,
While we were in the bird hide, scanning the water, a large white Heron landed at the far side to us - Great White Egret!
This is a very rare bird for me. I normally have to twitch it at the coast, so to get to see it as it dropped in, was a real surprize.
The place as always was alive with wildfowl, Gulls and a few Lapwings.
c15 Widgeon were very busy feeding on the grass and, as we were enjoying a toasted tea cake on a picnic bench, a large flock of Duck dropped onto the lake far off.
These Ducks also included Widgeon.
I had a late afternoon stroll up the local fields when we gat back from Wakefield.
The weather had clouded over and it was chilly but still passable weather for December.
