More or less the same walk as yesterday with a slight deviation along the field paths from Percy Rd corner, then above the quarry to Soil Hill.
Raggalds Flood was frozen over and on a freezing day , Soil Hill frozen in places.
A great day for a walk - just as well - the birds were difficult to come by.
The highlight of the outing was 6 Partridge that silently flushed from the fields before the quarry.
Only just caught them on camera and I cannot tell by the flight which sp. they might be?
Lots of ice on the roads with Percy Rd bend a hazard.
The chicane bit of Ned Hill Road was covered in ice and while I was working out how not to go base over apex a car came down towards me and a mini came uphill at the same time.
I climbed out of the way, onto the grass banking and the mini had the good sense to reverse back.
The downhill car hit the ice and began to slide towards the corner conifers - oh dear.
A prang was nailed on but the wheels gripped just in time.
The car number plate had an international 'F' on it - stands for France I believe, sacre bleu!
Birds:-
6 Partridge sp.
A few Gulls - mostly Common Gulls.
Mistle Thrush.
Little Owl.
Pr. Bullfinch.
Great Tit, Blackbird.
Lots of Magpies and Jackdaws in the farm area.
A few Rooks elsewhere.
