Thornton Cycle Track [am] - Local Area [pm]

We had our usual exercise walk along the Thornton cycle track late morning.

A cold windy outing - really windy over the viaduct.

This afternoon I had a walk up to a very windy Soil Hill hoping for...

I went via the usual route through the farms to Ned Hill.

I ignored Ned Hill Track (too windy) but I did venture up Soil Hill main track to the quarry and back, but not a sausage up here.

Birds:

Cycle Track:

Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Bullfinch.

C15 Thrush ,I thought were Redwing at the time because of the rapid wingbeats may be Fieldfare and Redwing looking at the photo?

Heron.

Pied Wagtail.

Local Area:

Distant Sparrowhawk.

Little Owl.

Mistle Thrush.

Pr. Meadow Pipit look resident on Taylor Lane midden.

Usual Gull sp.

Herring Gull sporting a Leg Ring - cannot read it alas.

New footpath(s) approved from Soil Hill to Denholme Gate Road by the looks of the signage.

  1. Good stuff with the new footpath John.
Is it planned to follow the existing 'routes' going down the hill or are they planning to cut a new path along the wall?

  2. Hi Daniel
    Good to hear from you.
I'll whatsapp later with a "better" photo of the map.
