Bradshaw - Ogden Circular Birding Walk

A long birding stint today 12:30 - 16:00 and not a lot to show for it really, I set off along the fields and farm track to Ned Hill bottom then along Syke Lane and Ogden Back lane to the water.

An enjoyable walk with loads of winter sunshine.

Another try for the Iceland Gull at Ogden and another dip (bad timing again!!).

A careful scan of Ogden Water this afternoon, where c250 Gulls were strewn all over the shop, but no joy.

Also on the lookout were BS, JS, DJS and a Thornton birder who I did not know.

A bit of a slog home, late afternoon up Ned Hill Road,  a short look along Ned Hill Track then down Taylor Lane, but nothing much seen.

Birds:-

Garden:

2 Buzzard, distant over Oats Royd this morning.

Bradshaw:

c70 Jackdaw, 5 Stock Dove.

Ogden Area:

c250 Gulls on the water, mostly Small Gulls.

2 Pheasant.

A Kingfisher, low in the west bank trees,  noticed that I'd stopped walking and immediately flew across the water.

3 Goldcrest.

Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Kestrel.

Nuthatch.

Abi with us tonight and tomorrow so the Iceland Gull should re-appear!
