Garden , Local Walk, Lightcliffe and Aldi Halifax

A real stunner of a morning with clear blue sky and some winter sunshine.

The mist / fog in the valley did gate crash the scene later on.

Abi with us today, and while we waited for her slumber to finish, I had a short walk up Taylor Lane along Percy Rd and back down Bradshaw Lane.

When I got back I enjoyed a coffee in the sunshine in the garden watching the sky.

We all had an hour in Bradshaw Park before lunch.

After a late lunch we took Abi home to Heckmondwike and Sue dropped me at Lightcliffe for a half an hour down Coach Road before picking me up on the return route so we could do some Aldi shopping.

Lightcliffe was very cold, it looked like the fog had just dispersed.

Birds:

Local Walk:

2 Red Legged Partridge on the bonnet fields.

c25 Winter Gull - mostly Fieldfare with a few Mistle Thrush and fewer Redwing.

On 2 separate occasions I heard  Mistle Thrush singing.

Garden:

2 Sparrowhawk. The 1st low near buildings opposite me and the second with a very "full chest" very high, mobbed by a solitary Crow > East.

A Raven called as it passed over head.

A Green Woodpecker called from nearby.

Park:

Greenfinch.

Pr. Collard Dove.

Lightcliffe:

At least 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker. (2 seen together).

The sun was quite awkward for photographs alas.

One drummed from distance the second was drumming constantly nearly over head at one point.

Aldi Car Park - Halifax:

As we entered Aldi Car Park Sue pointed to the sky where a large skein of Pink Footed Geese were heading West (ish).

I got some poor photos through the windscreen.

A count of c320 from the photograph.

An interesting day out and about.
