Bright early but quite dull later in the walk, and extremely windy on Soil Hill this morning.
The usual jaunt - Taylor Lane, Soil Hill, Ned Hill, Farm Track.
Birds:-
Nothing much moving in the strong wind except Herring and Common Gulls.
c10 Lapwing seen airborne, from Taylor Lane, (hidden by buildings) - probably more.
1 Fieldfare flushed from the Comms. mast field on Soil Hill.
A Snipe flushed from the very top of Soil Hill, rose quickly calling and flew off.
5 Stock Doves on wires seen along the farm track.
A small flock of 8 Chaffinch in the farm trees.
3 Red Legged Partridge flushed from a bit further along.
The Little Owl took 15 minutes to find!!
A Heron flew over the house after lunch.
(After I'd had my lunch that is - not sure if the Heron had eaten).
An afternoon walk along Thornton cycle track was a cold windy affair with not much seen bird wise, Plenty of Gulls >NW to Oxenhope Reservoir presumably.
The track cafe was still open at 3:15pm so we enjoyed a cake and a drink in one of the outside little huts out of the draft - nice.
Bradshaw - Soil Hill.
