A walk up to Taylor Lane early morning was a poor affair with the fields with some snow and ice on them.
A 'river' was running off Taylor Lane bottom into Bradshaw Lane, probably a hazard later on.
A couple of Rabbits were in the fields, but with just a few House Sparrows, Gulls and Crows seen on the way up - I aborted my potential Soil Hill visit today.
The snow came, big style, late morning and continued for a good few hours.
Bradshaw Lane was covered and Sue had a dodgy return journey with Abi from Sowerby Bridge, after visiting Emma.
At least I got some fresh air and exercise with snow shifting to get Sue back into the driveway and then later to get us back out onto the road to Heckmondwike.
I don't know how the birds survive this stuff.
The mealworms that I put out this a.m. were soon obliterated by the snow.
Three Hardy Starlings were on the pylon wires and a Mistle Thrush sang from somewhere.
On our way to Hecky , through Gomersal, Sue noticed a small group of distant birds, flying in a 'V'. I thought they might be Pinkies but in a very poor photo they look like Gulls.
Think you're right about the gulls John. Nice try though. I tried Mixi late morning 3 Herring Gulls with the smaller gulls but gave it up as a bad job.
ReplyDeleteA tough day all round today. Good that you got to Mixi, hope you just missed the arriving snow!
