A walk with friends at Bingley St. Ives on a cold, windy but bright morning.
Not really a birding outing but I did take my camera and bins along for company.
A look at the Coppice Pond was the highlight of an eventful outing.
Going off piste to avoid a big muddy section of the path, I saw a bird fly quickly into a nearby tree (surely a lifer), when I should have been looking where I was going.
Next news I'm on my back in a big heap with camera and bins all over the shop and my left wrist throbbing like mad, having failed to negotiate 2 small stumps in the ground.
One of which I soon was on 'first name' terms with.
'Luckily' according to those present, I had landed in a big heap of mud!
Although my wrist is very painful I don't think I've broken owt.
It's amazing, for a right handed person, how much you use you left hand.
Sue said "You haven't done that in a while, I wondered when the next birding walk fall would happen" - all heart some folk are.
We enjoyed a snack in the excellent 'Hatties Cafe" in Stephen Smith's garden centre on our way home.
It was good to see the Pinkies , over Salterhebble reported on the grapevine this morning, from a distant Bradshaw.
Amazingly the camera picked them up, although they are little black dots!
Birds:-
Tufted Duck, 10 Mute Swan, Moorhen, Coot.
Black Headed Gull, 2 Mistle Thrush.
Long Tailed Tit and a few other species.
A Buzzard was high over Oats Royd late afternoon, seen from the garden.
Well done to get a shot of the early 'pinks' John - at that distance. Hope you ok after your tumble - I know the feeling - but it is important to keep your eyes on the birds !!
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed when the camera captured the Pinkies at the distance.
Hopefully by tomorrow the wrist will a bit better, thanks.
Sue dosen't share your sentiment "Important to keep your eyes on the birds"!!
(But I do).
