It it me, or was today one of the coldest days of late? A real killer easterly wind, both at Redcar Tarn and parts of Ogden and Bradshaw - pretty nice in the sun and out of the draught though!
We had an extremely busy morning with trips to Halifax, Bingley and Keighley.
On our way home from Keighley, we took the opportunity to visit Redcar Tarn where we had our lunch in the car looking over the water.
(Todays butty selection was from Greggs and it was One Chicken Tandoori Curry baguette and two large muffins - mine was sticky toffee and Sue's was double chocolate ,but we did share the baguette)!.
This afternoon Sue had a visit to Elland and she dropped me at Rock's Road, Ogden so I could go looking for my 1st Curlew of 2022.
One Curlew called, from way over the fields towards Mixenden, and although I was just going to have a short outing I ended up at the bottom of Hunter Hill, without sight of a Curlew.
Of course, as I arrived back near the golf course a Curlew flew > W.
I headed off down the track past the maintenance buildings and after a circuit of Ogden water, I went home via Back Lane, Syke Lane and the farm track and fields.
Birds:-
Redcar Tarn:
The 'usual' Gulls near the water ,as far as I could tell anyway , and lots of Gulls strewn about the nearby fields.
Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Common Gull, Black Headed Gull.
A huge flock of Starlings far off - the most I've ever seen together were flying over the distant fields.
The flock was so big I could not get the whole group in one photo.
Tufted Duck, Mallard, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Coot, 2 Pheasant.
Oystercatcher, Curlew heard but not seen and a few other species.
Ogden etc:
(A Sparrowhawk was seen over Pavement Lane am).
Long Tailed Tit, 2 Jay.
10 Curlew (6 Back Lane, 4 near Mixenden fields).
c10 Fieldfare with c6 Redwing.
Mistle Thrush, 5 Stock Dove.
Treecreeper, Goldcrest.
c40 Gulls on Ogden water.
Earlier 15 Gulls were on Raggalds Flood including 4 Herring Gulls.
