A busy morning gardening this morning - well tidying up really - I leave the real gardening to Sue.
(Although, funnily enough, I have got green fingers, I must be eating too many Mars Bars).
A Buzzard was being mobbed by a Crow over Oats Royd.
Mid afternoon I enjoyed a walk from Withens Road to Bradshaw.
I went home via Hunter Hill, the field paths above Stod Fold, past the golf course, around Ogden Water, along through the farms and field paths.
Really windy at the outset but it turned out to be an enjoyable, if long, outing.
A few enjoyable stops to natte to folk, added to the time.
Birds:-
Withens Road Area:
2 Curlew, 6 Mallard fly past, 1 Greylag Goose fly past.
I had a scan of Cold Edge Dams but they were too distant really - nothing obvious was on the water - apart from 2 Canada Geese.
Hunter Hill to Ogden:
2 Little Owl calling, heard from above Hunter Hill (not seen).
Great Crested Grebe , a way off, on Mixenden Reservoir.
Green Woodpecker calling from Stod Fold (not seen).
2 Meadow Pipit (struggling to see many Mipits so far).
5 Mistle Thrush.
2 Redwing.
Song Thrush.
9 Curlew together in the fields, flushed and flew towards Fly Flats.
(Unless I've got a Whimbrel!! in there).
Ogden Water Circuit:
I had a look out along the west side path for the Siskin reported quite a bit earlier by BS.
I was pleased to find them in the dark tree top there!
6 Siskin.
7 Herring Gull.
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Green Woodpecker calling.
2 Oystercatcher (still in the same place).
Ogden to Bradshaw:
Kestrel.
c30 Woodpigeon.
1 Little Owl.
3 Stock Doves.
