A cool start to my walk this aft. but it seemed to warm up as the afternoon progressed - I was fair sweating when I got home.
An enjoyable 3 hours or so with loads of rocky shoreline at Ogden and, although the car parks were busy, the circuit was not inundated with folk.
I managed to get 2 local 1st's for 2022 as well.
The first one was a cracking Redshank on the west side.
Any Wader species is good news at Ogden!!
A second Redshank (or most probably the first one seen in a different location) on the east side.
The second was a Willow Warbler at the north end.
Grey Wags in short supply. but I managed one at the north end.
I hope the shoreline stays visible for a while, Ogden is overdue a few good Waders.
Birds:-
Redshank, Grey Wagtail.
2 Swallow, Pheasant, 2 Meadow Pipit, Herring Gull in the fields.
Mistle Thrush, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Coal Tit, Wren.
4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls on arrival c10 when I left.
10 Mallard Ducklings.
Great Crested Grebe, Tufted Duck.
Woodpecker drumming.
Green Woodpecker calling.
Three Song Thrush dashing about on the deck.
Curlew, Linnet overhead.
A resting racing pigeon with two toe ends missing.
(No sigh of the Little Owl as I came through the fields).
A male Sparrowhawk flew in front of the car as we went along Keighley Road this morning,
You've got two Redshanks there John, the plumage of your 'East side' bird is striking, its so greyish compared to the other. Nice one
