Home to Soil Hill Top Circular - Shibden Pk - Local

Soil Hill Circular:

A chilly wind early on as I went through Crabtree Hall Farm, up Ned Hill Lane and along Soil Hill main track before returning to Percy Road and going down Taylor Lane.

Just a cursory look along Soil Hill Main Track but as I was resting on a wall at the top of the Quarry a Weasel came to check me out!!

Birds:-

Little Owl - must be getting used to me now - it did not fly as I passed by about 20ft from it!

Swallow, Blackcap, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff.

A Possible Whitethroat by Crabtree Hall Farm gave a very short song before flying off.

No photo or sighting so one that got away.

Linnet, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Stock Dove.

2 Partridge species flushed 'early' , no call, on fairly silent wings. The birds looked on the small side.

Probably Grey Partridge.

Heron.

Shibden Park:

We all enjoyed some time down Shibden Park this afternoon, where it was very busy.

Ice Cream, Slush, Train Ride, Football and "Small Stick, in the stream ,race" for me today.

I don't know what the ladies did.

A very, very quick look from near the Cunnery Woods gate brought me a singing Blackcap.

Garden and Local:

A shortish look about in the garden while reading was quite pleasant while I sat out of the bitter NE wind and in the sun.

A Sparrowhawk nearly took part of me nose off ,as I was sat on the bench - mind you I've plenty of nose to go at, and my hooter could well do with a small nose job.

A Green Woodpecker called from nearby.

Local Fields:

A quick scan for Ringo, up the local fields, failed miserably - probably missing the Ringo migration time window by now.

2 Red Legged Partridge 'legged it' up the path in front of me.

2 Herring Gulls and 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

c30 Starling and a few Meadow Pipit was about it.
