Thornwick Bay and Flamborough Head

A few days away this week and we were really lucky with the weather.

Some shopping, a bike ride, a walk and a bit of birding made for any enjoyable change of routine.

I did get some birding in on Tuesday with a visit to the Thornwick Bay Hide (JB's) and after cycling to Flamborough Head we had a good "look see" there.

It was the first time I have met anyone in the hide, I've visited it quite a few times over the past 2 or 3 years. On Tuesday there were 4 others in the hide.

It was good to talk with Alan and Andrew who were very knowledgeable.

The lack of water probably affected the bird sighting with Ringed Plover and Dunlin there.

A Ring Ouzel (Female) and a Little Ringed Plover  were near the smaller pool, visible as I came over the hill from the caravan park.

Birds:-

Yellowhammer, Common Whitethroat, Linnet, Skylark, Meadow Pipit.

Swallow, House Martin, Sand Martin, Swift.

Gannet, Kittiwake, Fulmar, Razorbill, Guillemot.

Puffin.

Kestrel, Possible Hobby over the Caravan Park.

Red Kite and Buzzard.

Ring Ouzel.

Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler.

Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Oystercatcher.

Pied Wagtail, Greenfinch, Goldfinch.

Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Great Black-backed gull.

Carrion Crow, calmly, inspecting a Starlings nest in a house roof in Flamborough Village, while the parent bird squawked wildly.
