Quite a long drive to White Holme Reservoir this morning.
I had 3 hours here, pleasant enough but lots of dogs about.
I was hoping for maybe a Tern sp. to fly over but I was out of luck.
A dullish, mild sort of morning.
Blackstone Edge Reservoir had a Common Sandpiper, Mallards and Canada Geese,
Late afternoon and I had a quick look for DJS's Wainstalls Whimbrel but failed to locate it.
At least I was looking in the right fields given the excellent map info. on the grapevine.
Birds:
Meadow Pipit, 3 Red Grouse (Calling from the moor).
Wren, Canada Geese.
2 Wheatear, 3 Common Sandpiper, 3 Oystercatcher.
3 Pied Wagtail.
1 Black Headed Gull called.
Skylark, 1 Swallow and a Curlew.
A Thin winged Raptor took me completely by surprise, as it flew past, mobbed by Meadow Pipit. Could not ID it at the time, from the photos cropped on the laptop, I think it is a Peregrine Falcon.
Can't do anything with the falcon John. !
