Pugneys Park - Wakefield

Abi's final 2 days at her Heckmondwike 'Little School' and today was their leaving ceremony.

There was lots of singing, lots of kids saying what they want to be when they grow up (in 2 days time!). Most want to be Footballers or athletes, although one young man said he wanted to be a surgeon - obviously a cut above the rest.

Lots of laughter as we were shown photos for this and previous years.

Abi had been going here since age 3, now she is 11 going on 12 (well 18 really).

Where did all that time go to I wonder.
Thought I might need a hankie, being a real cry baby , but, funnily enough, I didn't need one - a happy morning.

With Pugneys about 9 miles from here we took the opportunity to visit there.

Heavy drizzle in Bradshaw this a.m. but although very dull here, it remained dry until we were leaving at 15:00, when the drizzle arrived.

Birds:

14 Common Tern were a real surprize, very noisy with juvenile birds begging to be fed.

A Cetti's Warbler was heard on our way around and when we were seated in the bird hide by the smaller lake a second Cetti's was very, very elusive in the reeds here.

A long stint hoping for a good photo of it, failed, with just fleeting glimpse of it and one pretty awful photo managed.

Sedge Warblers were active by the main lake side path as as per usual very reluctant to show preferring to tease by making the tops of the reeds wobble while scuttling about below!

Others:

Pochard, Heron, Cormorant, Tufted Duck, Mallard.

Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black Headed Gull.

Great Crested Grebe, Coot, Moorhen.

Stock Dove, Lapwing, House Martin, Pied Wagtail.

3 Heron. Mute Swan.

Loads of Mallard, all over the shop, some with small ducklings in tow.

I checked through them as best I could looking for a 'non-Mallard' but failed to see one.

That doesn't mean they were all Mallard though!

Cettis Warbler?

Also Cettis?

Grey looking bird at the front has me beat.
(If it is a bird!!!!)

I think the bird in the background is a Tufted Duck

Only Photo of a Warbler in the reeds where the
Sedge Warblers were calling.
Guess its a Sedge but I cannot tell with this photo.
