Sue and Abi went shopping today - kids clothes are soon grown out of - Abi's shoe size matches Sue's now.
First off this morning I had the short run up to Roper Lane to check out Oats Royd Top.
The farmer zoomed past on a Quad bike thingy and there were 4 dog walkers, other than that things were quiet!
It soon got quite hot in the sunshine here this morning.
Birds:-
3 Willow Warbler, 2 Swallow.
Green Woodpecker and a Buzzard called (neither seen).
A couple of Warbler types that I just got a poor photo of.
I took a video of a bird call that I could not place - I got one 'chekk' before it left the bushes!
The call is near the end of the video.
After lunch I had a relaxing sit in the garden putting some long overdue Dubbin on me boots.
Boredom soon set in and although it was very warm I decided to have a local saunter to see if I could re-locate last nights Redstart.
No joy there, so I carried on along the path to arrive at Ned Hill Lane bottom.
Up 'The Grunt' and a short walk along Ned Hill Track before returning to go up Perseverance Road and along the Soil Hill Mast path as far as the quarry top, before returning to the road.
A look see at Koi Carp Copse before home via Bradshaw Lane.
Birds:-
Buzzard calling.
Goldfinch in good numbers - 1 flock of c50 and loads on Taylor Lane opposite Koi Carp Copse, lots on the wires and lots more on the thistles.
Hard to estimate, but in excess of 100 birds in the second flock, I would say.
3 Little Owl. (2 Usual horse field, 1 Bradshaw Lane).
2 Kestrel, 3 Linnet.
Koi Carp Copse:
A very faint Whitethroat call, down the track, from near the conifers.
At the top of the track in the strawberry / brambles a small bird was scuttling about, quite low.
I spent 10 mins or so trying to get a decent view of it - but not to be - probably a Whitethroat.
Nothing much else seen.
