Birding is a strange hobby.
Vehicle issues today kept us busy until nearly 7pm!
After tea I thought I'd have half an hour's birding up the local fields where I could reflect on my depleted bank balance.
I've spent many an hour twitching Redstart at Ogden recently and low and behold, with just a small birding window tonight, a cracking Male Redstart, obligingly pops up on a fence post at the end of Carpet Mick's garden!!!
I enjoyed a pleasant chat with DJB and LNK who kindly arrived to see the Redstart.
The Redstart had other ideas though and as the light faded and the pesky midges came out to eat us for supper, we decided to call it a day and slope off home with no sign of the bird.
A bit of scanning however , paid dividends, with the bird, now very distant, popping up on a different post in a different place in the gloom - it soon disappeared again, and with the encroaching darkness I didn't post it on the grapevine again.
Also about:-
2 Little Owl.
Probably 20 or so Mistle Thrush
Calling Willow Warbler.
