Leeming Reservoir (Again) and Local Fields Wed Evening

Emma and Abi to entertain this morning, followed by a snack for lunch in the Secret Garden CafĂ© on Brighouse Road.

I had a run out to Oxenhope later in the afternoon, a pleasant outing in the sunshine, but it cooled off later.

A slow saunter along the reservoir path before a short look a bit further along by the stream today.

Birds:-

Common Sandpiper seen early on.

A good few Tufted Duck here again and one particular Tufted that looked very Scaup like.

I've never seen a Scaup and apart from 'no tuft' and a 'black nail bill tip' don't really know what to look for - so my bird is probably a Tufty.

A Redshank was seen later on and I got a few 'half' decent photos of it.

It was up to it's gunnels in mud a lot of the time, which obviously affect the bill and leg colour.

I spent too long waiting for it to fly ,so I could see the wing pattern.

The bird never flew as I watched but it did preen and higher it's wings.

The underwing is showing a lot of white, so I guess that negates Spotted Redshank.

Heron, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, couple of Swallow, Black Headed Gull and Herring Gull also present.

A Raptor overhead is probably a Kestrel?

Local Fields Evening:

Blackcap, 12 Mistle Thrush, Little Owl, 2 Red Legged Partridge, 4 Stock Dove.

A Kestrel, very distant, was flying a tad erratically, which was a bit odd?

It landed on a pylon wire.

Leeming:

Potential Scaup

Kestrel?

Redshank showing pts of white.
