An incredible evenings birding with DJB and LNK looking for the Lesser whitethroat.
Very warm early evening when we had a walk up Taylor Lane.
We did not have to wait long for birds to appear with Linnet , Goldfinch and Willow Warblers active.
First up, as we went down the track, was a cracking Spotted Flycatcher that obligingly sat on a telephone wire.
A bit later the target Lesser Whitethroat made a very fast fly past disappearing into a hedge.
It made several sorties and landed quite often in some nearby conifers, although my photos of it are very very poor. Which was disappointing!!
Even so, a great find originally by DJB and LNK.
Afterwards we enjoyed a beer or two at DJB's to celebrate a memorable occasion.
The Spotted Flycatcher being a 1st this year, for me , in Calderdale.
And the Lesser Whitethroat a 1st for me in Calderdale full stop.
A Little Owl was on a wall seen from Bradshaw Lane.
Well done getting a Lesser Whitethroat shot - even in the bushes !
