Leeming Reservoir - Oxenhope

We were shopping in Halifax most of the morning, all the while my phone was going 'ping' with grapevine messages  of  a Visual Migration bonanza of Winter Thrushes moving through the area.

Some phenomenal numbers of Winter Thrushes being counted ,on , what I would imagine, was a very cold morning, on the hill tops, where vis-miggers were.

Mean while back at the ranch.... Tonto is disguised as a birder.......

After lunch I had a short run out to Leeming Reservoir Oxenhope where the water level is improving.

However there is plenty of shoreline left bare and on 3 separate occasions dogs and dog walkers were 'enjoying' life  along the shoreline.

I did 'there and back' along the reservoir path with a detour through the trees to the west side.

I did get my first autumn Winter Thrushes albeit it very, very small numbers.

4 nervous Redwing flushed from the high west side path bushes to drop down to the waterside bushes (where I'd come from) - I did mange to get a close view of just one of them when I returned there, but the camera must have  'frightened' it.

10 or so Fieldfare flew over, fairly low, > S towards TRM - Oxenhope reservoir.

The water had 35 Gulls at one point and 35 Mallards and 5 Tufted Duck all on the far side.

6 Bullfinch flew from waterside bushes into the deep foliage on the west side.

3 Common (?) Buzzard together, were calling and seen awkwardly through a gap in the trees before they left.

6 Red Legged Partridge flew from a distant field by a farm with another RLP calling in the adjacent field.

One RLP landed on a wall, the photo of it is poor at the distance.

2 Grey Wagtail, one very agitated, were in the concrete overflow sluice - the reason for the agitation became apparent as a Kestrel passed overhead.

Nearing the car c20 Long Tailed Tit left a nearby tree.

A Peregrine was seen this morning.

Well done to the visual migration birders, a gem of a day for them..
