We took Abi and Emma to Wetherspoons Sowerby Bridge this morning for breakfast.
Emma struggles with eating, but she likes the Pancakes and Abi likes the fruit bowl here - we like the coffee and biscuits!
While at White Windows car park, a grapevine text (DJS) alerted me to 34 Pink Footed Geese > W over Sowerby Bridge.
I gazed skywards, through at a limited sky, but failed to eyeball them alas.
Later on, while we were scoffing, another grapevine text alerted me to Pr. Whooper Swan on Mixenden seen by NK.
We did a detour on our way home to pick up the excellent 'Halifax Bird Report" from the shop at top of Pellon / Mount Tabor and then on to Mixenden.
I had a fast walk to the top of the reservoir wall and managed to get a photo of the Whoopers out in the middle of the water - then off back home.
Late afternoon Sue dropped me at Ogden 'on her way' to drop Abi back home at Heckmondwike.
I was thinking that after the Mixenden Whoopers, something juicy might have dropped in at Ogden - think again.
It rained more or less for the whole outing and a real cloud buster got me as I browed Ned Hill Lane, onto Percy Road.
Still, a great bit of exercise, but I slipped up really, running out of daylight as I headed home.
Birds:-
Mixenden Reservoir:
2 Whooper Swan.
A small flotilla of Gulls that I did not have time to check.
Ogden:
Goldcrest.
Mallard and a few Gulls.
(no sign of yesterday's Widgeon).
A Sparrowhawk was airborne over Moor End Road, earlier.
