A cold mornings outing , and very dull with it, waited 'till I was nearly home before giving me a fair old drenching with one heavy shower.
A birding walk that turned out to be an exercise walk with most hoped for birds not playing out.
I even missed DJS's Pinkies reported on the grapevine over Mixenden, when I was at the bottom of Ned Hill Lame - they must have passed close by! One of those days.
I did nearly a circuit of Ogden Water before opting to veer off uphill from the north east corner to have a butcher hook at Back Lane.
I did manage a singing Skylark along back lane but nowt much else.
Home was via the usual route along Syke Lane, through Crabtree Hall Farm and along the fields.
Birds:
2 Pheasant.
4 Bullfinch, 4 Chaffinch.
Greenfinch.
c30 Small Gulls on Ogden Water and the usual Tit species.
Skylark.
Singing Song Thrush, 2 Stock Doves.
A calling Nuthatch near Crabtree Hall Farm and the usual Little Owl.
Yesterday the usually shy Little Owl was sat atop a flimsy branch for all to see!
Today it was a bit more timid.
A Black Rabbit was in the horse field both days.
Pity about the Woody.
