Monday 24/04/23.
A couple of days away this week to the west coast where it was unusually cold for late April.
We caught the bus to Heysham from our caravan park near Halton and has a very pleasant
walk around this pretty village taking in the very pretty church.
Prior to the walk around we found a gem of a café where a small snack gave us some energy
for our walk.
Beyond the church there is a nice path that leads down to a concrete walkway /cycle path
and we followed this path, unerringly, all the way to Morecombe.
Along the way some interesting birds, most birds were distant, but when the tide started
to come in, some birds were kind enough to come a bit nearer and allow some half decent
photos.
We enjoyed chatting to a couple of fishing types that were awaiting the “tides arrival”.
The chap had got his fishing stuff organised while his partner – well - she had the booze
organized with a bottle of plonk for her and some tins for him!
I could not see the enjoyment of supping cold booze on a pretty cold and windy promenade!
Birds:-
(Along the sea front and along the river Lune).
Red Breasted Merganser, Common Sandpiper, Turnstone, Redshank.
Eider Duck, Great Crested Grebe, Little Egret. Shoveller Duck
Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black Headed Gull.
Oystercatcher, Brent Goose, Curlew. Whimbrel. Turnstone.
Sand Martin, Swallow.
Heron, Song and Mistle Thrush.
Hopefully I've mentioned all the birds in the photos below.
