Out and About

Emma and Abi to entertain today and I had my usual walk up the local fields while Abi got her act together. We called at White Windows mid-afternoon and we all enjoyed a late lunch in Sowerby Bridge Wetherspoons.

Sue dropped me at Jay House Lane on her way to dropping Abi back home at Heckmondwike.

I enjoyed a leisurely stroll down Jay House Lane before being picked up again at the bottom.

A narrow road with blind bends, needs care when walking down it ,with some loony drivers about this late afternoon!

I finished the birding with an evening stroll up the local fields.

Birds:-

Local Fields (a.m & p,m):

16 Carrion Crow in one tree off Bradshaw Lane were making a racket - probably a cat about.

House Sparrow, 4 Dunnock, Pheasant.

 2 Little Owl.

1 Curlew (heard) a.m. 2 Curlew seen in the horse field p.m.

3 Meadow Pipit, c20 Woodpigeon.

1 Kestrel seen a.m. 2 separate sightings p.m.

One of the p.m. Kestrel was hovering calmly then it we a bit  'bonkers'.

It was flying about all over the shop (like a Snipe) and issuing a one note squeak.

(Never witnessed this before).

White Windows:

Blackcap singing, Chiffchaff and a few other sp.

Jay House Lane:

House Sparrow, Tree Sparrow.

The Tree Sparrow were very lively and keeping to the back of the now leafy trees.

I could not say how many birds were present.

Just managed one or two decent photos.

Wheatear, Little Owl,

Meadow Pipit, Swallow, Skylark.

Jay, Song Thrush Pheasant,

Moorhen an a nest,

Plenty of water in the pond near the bottom of the lane.
