Morning:
Common Gulls are back in town and Buzzards seem to be doing
Very well.
Good to see a Little Owl from Bradshaw Lane.
Birds:-
10 Common Gulls and 5 Black Headed Gulls, juv. Pied Wagtail.
7 Swallow. Greenfinch calling from several spots.
Buzzard on a field post.
Little Owl on a wall.
Evening:
Good to chat with DJB's mum on the way up.
I had a very enjoyable birding stroll up to and over Soil Hill ( main tracks) after tea this evening.
A great evening for a walk, sunny but cool.
A Buzzard was on a wall near the 'terminus' on Bradshaw Lane.
Later 3 Buzzards (1 on a post and 2 flying low over the fields) were in the same area.
A 'would be' Sparrowhawk' morphed into a Kestrel as it got nearer pursued by a dogged Crow.
C40 Woodpigeon took flight from a Taylor Lane field.
A couple of Stock Doves stayed put.
Soil Hill was... Soil Hill.. 1 Meadow Pipit and at least 4 skittish Whitethroat. was about all I could manage.
Some pretty Butterflies near Taylor Lane, lower midden, area.
Otherwise a Linnet and a Rook worth a mention.
Peregrine elsewhere earlier today.
Garden:
Buzzards seen throughout the garden sky watch , high, distant.
Also 7 or so Swift and 10 Swallow,
I am on a man diet at the moment... lots and lots of salad for tea.
I've probably misread the diet info ... because , when I look at the little table in the garden this evening there appears to be an empty can of John Smith's smooth, together with a half empty one, and a packet of salted peanuts, looking worse for wear.
Actually , you may nor believe this but, I turned down an offer to be on the front page of Hello Magazine earlier this week - yeah man - I've still got it.
Now where did I put that new man corset I bought from go outdoors?
Nice Red Admiral and Meadow Browns John. Not had a bad day then with a few raptors (ditto.....!) I won't recognise you if you stick to that diet, Salads are good for you I'm told..........
ReplyDeleteTks for the Butterfly info Dave. I'm sure you sneak a salad or two when no one is looking.
