We had a few days away at Cleethorpes Showground Caravan Park a very clean, neat and tidy place.
Sunday 17th September, 2023.
Got settled in and went for a bike ride along the long, long beach road and back. A Blues band was playing at the little Railway bar adjacent our site so we parked the bikes and enjoyed a drink and a natter with a few folk.
During Sunday night /Monday morning a huge storm came over with thunder, lightening and heavy rain.
Sue (and a few others on the site) mentioned difficulty sleeping with the thunder so loud they thought a bomb had gone off!
(I heard the rain on the van roof, for awhile , before I fell asleep - missed 'Plot Night' completely!).
Monday 18th September, 2023.
I had a short stroll along the cycle track, next to the large expanse of Salt Marsh.
The sea was miles off, alas, and any birds were just on the limit of the camera zoom.
Lots of big dogs with dog walkers here, flushing whatever birds were about - boo hoo!
Birds:
Morning:
Collard Dove.
8 or Ringed Plover.
Oystercatcher.
Turnstone.
Canada Geese, Greylag Geese, Barnacle Geese.
Meadow Pipit.
Lots of Goldfinch.
A few Little Egret.
4 Swallow.
Just before dark.
The tide was on it's way in - but would not arrive until after dark this evening.
Groups of Mute Swan.
Brent Geese came in to land late on.
A large number of Ducks - looked very Teal like to me.
Turnstone.
A couple of light plumaged Waders that I cannot ID.
A Little Grebe was in Buck Beck outlet near a bridge.
The Little Grebe dived as soon as I saw it - and disappeared!
I had another look at the Beck on my way back and managed to see the Grebe again.
Tuesday 19th September, 2023.
With the horrendous weather forecast of heavy rain and gale force winds we decided to up sticks and head home this morning.
