Another stonker of a day, crisp, cold and sunny today.
After some Christmas shopping this morning I had a free afternoon so I decided to have my 3rd attempt at locating a Bunt. on Soil Hill.
"I like to go a wandering along the mountain track" as Val deri said!
Same route as yesterday, still frozen and pretty on Soil Hill summit and a bit milder if anything today.
Not much happening on the Hill, but a few different birds did come along from time to time.
I traced my steps literally today with a lot of my route just showing my boot prints , from yesterday (Inspector Closeau) , in the snowy stuff.
The lower NK pond was frozen over,
Birds:
2 Wagtail species flushed into sun , from the roadside drain, just before Taylor Lane bottom - they looked very Grey but I could see not clearly!
Little Owl (1).
13 Common Gulls in the Bonnet Fields.
3 Wren (at least).
Pheasant on the Taylor Lane 1st midden.
A nice surprize with 2 maybe 3 Stonechat seen from the track just beyond Soil Hill mast.
They stayed very distant alas.
Four Siskin, made a nice change though very mobile and hard to see in the many branched trees.
Also here a small flock of Goldfinch and a Bullfinch early on, on the farm track.
A Green Woodpecker called as I crossed the fields after the farms.
Also here 39 Canada Geese.
A 'funny' sight when 2 Roe Deer that were in a nearby fields, saw me and legged it.
They cleared 2 field walls with ease, and at the third wall crossing they nearly totalled a Little Owl (2) that was sat there, but sooooon wasn't sat there.
Wash day I guess at the Little Owl's house this evening - just underwear though, so not too bad.
A Bullfinch flew over the house earlier.
Good to get a Siskin shot up there John
