A cold, sharp, strong at times, easterly wind greeted me as Sue dropped me at Lane Head Lane on our way home from Aldi.
I enjoyed a few leisurely hours traipsing about looking for ...... something.
The weather was ok as I went down the lane by Brook House where it was very sheltered from the wind.
After a nosy here and a walk left up the good golf track I retraced my steps to follow the stream and up the rough ground to Ogden Water.
Some lunch in the visitor centre consisted of a coffee, packet of crisps and a KitKat.
After an enjoyable natter here, I had a walk around the water but didn't eyeball much.
Home was via the usual farm tracks and Bradshaw Field paths.
A bit of a struggle to find much today really, probably caused by this evil wind or maybe by me wearing this new blindfold I'm sporting.
Birds:-
A pair of Bullfinch were in the roadside bushes early on.
c40 Gulls on Mixenden Reservoir were a tad too distant to ID with any confidence.
A nice sighting was that of a Reed Bunting (one of my favourite birds) which was holding on for grim death to a distant grass stalk in the wind, as I walked the Golf Couse Track.
The wind got the better of it and in dropped down behind a wall before I could photograph it.
I shivered a bit , in the wind, looking for it to appear again, before moving off photo-less.
2 Green Woodpecker were competing in a song contest - 1 to the north and 1 to the south of the golf course.
1 Great Spotted Woodpecker Called.
Song Thrush.
4 Curlew flew over the golf course towards Ogden Reservoir.
A Chiffchaff was in the trees by the stream below the Golf Course clubhouse.
It was intent on moving in time to my camera presses!
Ogden Water was disappointing with just 11 Small Gulls, 2 Canada Geese and the usual Mallard here.
Others Here - Raven and 2 Goldcrest.
A Little Owl called as I walked along Syke Lane.
Just a Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Greenfinch worth a mention on my way through the farms to home.
A "Caterpillar" of Starlings were on the wires near home.
Peregrine Falcon seen on our way to Aldi.
A late afternoon cold garden sky watch failed to see any Sooper Swans!! Boo Hoo times two!
