Bradshaw - Soil Hill Circular (Ouzle Hunt)

My usual jaunt , or was it gaunt, today Bradshaw fields, The Grunt, Ned Hill Track, Soil Hill (Top paths) & Taylor Lane.

The promised hot afternoon weather never made it here!

Blowing a gale on the Hill top - didn't help much!

Plenty of scanning for Ouzels but non seen.

Birds:-

Little Owl.

2 Blackbird.

3 Pheasant.

3 Meadow Pipit.

4 Skylark.

Kestrel.

2 Curlew.

1 Lapwing on the hill top, ducking and diving ... on guard.

8 or so Gulls over in bits and bobs were mostly Lesser Black-backed Gull with 2 Herring Gulls.

A flock of 12 mostly drake Mallard were flying about - unusual?

3 Willow Warbler.

Probably a Peregrine on a chimney - miles off over Halifax - seen from Taylor Lane.

Not the best birding outing of my life.

  1. Mallards a bit hit and miss on the Hill at the moment John. Does not look like any are planning to breed which is a bit dissappointing
