I enjoyed a Four hours birding walk today, another pretty decent day after the misty stuff had cleared away.
Not as 'productive' as hoped for but I tinned out of going down Soil Hill's north slope opting to head for Ogden instead.
This morning I had a short sky watch from the garden.
Pinky "pings" were coming thick and fast from (mostly) AC at Northowram reporting the shenanigan's of a large group of Pinkys who should have bought a better Sat-Nav.
The mist was pretty dense as I looked towards Halifax and I did not eyeball any Pinkies alas.
The guy holding the bins was also pretty dense maybe?
On soil hill main track it was good to talk to Farmers Frank and Julia who were doing some jobs in the "soil-henge" field.
Frank told me that the soil-henge field was bought by his grandfather before the war from Fielden's brewery (Fieldens brewery is the buildings on the Bonnet, North Bradshaw Lane corner).
The field was used for Fielden's dray horses at that time.
I called at Ogden café for a coffee and a Twix and also to nosh my lunch butty, bumping into a work colleague there.
So no wonder my bird list is meagre today with all this talking.
Quiz:
What is the third novel in the fifty shades trilogy called?
Birds:-
c40 Woodpigeon (Garden).
Pied Wagtail.
2 Skylark called on Soil Hill top.
A few Meadow Pipit.
2 small flock of Woodpigeon over (14 & 12).
A Stonechat - on the west facing wall before the diagonal path to Ned Hill Track- was a bonus.
c200 Gulls at Ogden.
5 Blackbirds in one tree.
4 Raven (2 Ogden, 2 Bradshaw Fields).
2 Buzzard. One over Ogden with a very loud call.
An interesting bird flew about near the dilapidated threshing machine on Taylor Lane but refused to re-appear after 15 minutes wait.
Might be worth looking for next time.
Just the Usual Common Gulls along the farm fields, not much else.
Quiz Answer:
Fifty Shades Free.
