I wanted to have a "late twitch" for the Shoveler seen on Cromwell Bottom Ski-lake so we decided to incorporate the twitch with a walk today.
We parked the car at Southowram and enjoyed a cold walk through the woods to exit on the Brighouse - Elland road.
A short saunter along here brought us to the Cromwell Bottom Nature reserve cafe, which was in business today.
A coffee and a piece of fruit cake with a slice of cheese on top was a real treat..... yummy, yum, yum.
We walked along the canal towards Brighouse , then, I peeled off ...
(then peeled on again! brrrrrrr) .
... to walk along the river and then look at the ski-lake, while Sue continued along the canal into Brighouse.
The main lagoon water is frozen but the water around the edges seemed free.
Nice to see Mick & Kath at the Ski-Lake railings.
The viewing here is a tad awkward and both left and right extremes of the lake are very difficult to see, but there is always something worth seeing making the journey down from Bradshaw.
We met again in Wetherspoons where Sue was enjoying a coffee.
I hurried her out of the pub, towards the bus station because there was a bus " due at ten to! " in 15 minutes.
However the buses are every two hours on a Sunday and although there was a bus at "ten to" it was 1 hour and 15 minutes away.
Men don't make mistakes so I must blame my new Chatgpt AI app 'wot I'm using on my Handroid fone - cos I'm inflammable".

Not a lot seen on the walk through the woods.

I did not stop as long as I wanted (after getting the bus times wrong!) so my sightings are a bit "watered down" perhaps.
