Fly Flatts (Very Wet)

After some shopping in Halifax in the nice dry weather I had a run out to Fly Flatts at lunchtime,  where Sue (the wise one) sat in the car reading , while I went on a Wet and Wild excursion along the north side public footpath.

The weather was right in me gob on the way down, and as I was a bit worried about the health of my camera in the heavy rain , I legged it pretty quickly as far as the no go area to get some of the wet stuff to come from behind me.

Pretty tough going really with the waders, distant,  on the opposite banking and photos well dodgy.

I did ok considering and did get a few photos.

I also discovered that my Berghaus coat (which is brill and which I've had for ages) needed reproofing together with my waterproof over trousers - so they are whizzing around in the white Samsung thing that sits in the kitchen corner.

I also discovered maybe why there are two F's in Fly Flatts - they stands for flipping foul?

There we some very high pitched calls from unseen Waders that I could not ID - obviously lifers.

Birds:-

3 Ringed Plover.

5 Dunlin.

3 Redshank.

4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

5 Common Sandpiper.

4 Greylag Geese.

Mallard Ducklings.

Canada Geese.

25 Swift in one 'congregation' low, during heavy rain.

3 Meadow Pipit.

4 Lapwing.
